Prince and Princess of the Universe Meet.

When PU (The Princess of the Universe) was seven, she met her prince charming (PC).  He was tall, dark, mild-mannered, and very, very gentle.  He walked tall and proud.  Everything that he said and did was above reproach- and in many ways he taught her to live.  Growing up on a farm with so many brothers and sisters, PU was a little like a wild animal- proud and free but without a lot of culture.  PC lived in a garden too- but it was a garden of culture and sophistication.  Think that if Jonathan Edwards was reincarnated and was seven years old, he would be just like PC.  In fact, although PC claimed that he didn't want to be a minister, PU couldn't ever imagine him being anything else.  Maybe that's who they were.  Think of a 7 year old Jonathan and Sarah Pierpont Edwards transported to a quiet New England town (QNET) in the mid-20th century.

QNET was almost 250 years old.  The whole place felt like nothing was built in the last hundred years and most was built in the federal period.  Everyone living in the part of town where PU and PC lived were cousins.  PU was an outsider- she came as her father (Bull Senior or BS) lost his job in the town where their family had lived 100 years and had to transport their little family over the river and through the woods to a new place.  People in QNET did not know what to think about people coming in from the outside world.

PU and PC didn't care.  Over the universe and over time they had found one another (again?).  It was September- they were walking home every day.  They were planning for the Fall Festival at the Community Church.  PU had found her princess dress.  It was her mother's wedding dress.  Her Mom (we'll call her Belle) had wanted a dress just like Elizabeth Taylor's in Father of the Bride- with a few upgrades- and her father (we'll call him King Kindness- never abbreviated) who could deny her nothing- had it made by a New York City designer.  It was a wedding for a prince and princess.  PU was big enough to fit into it now- just a few inches short- so everyone knew that it would be way too small by the time PU was grown.  PU wanted Belle to cut it down- and Belle who could deny PU nothing- was doing it!  PU was going to the fair as a bride in a gown fit for the Princess of the Universe.
